Baldwin Iron Works is not liable for any damage to property or  personal injury during or after installing of this product. Always make sure to double and triple check before making  cuts and always use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Step 1

Choosing where to install the tray

  • Typically you are going to want the pan centered in the boat as far forward as possible. This is normally the most comfortable position as well as your best chance of missing any supports under the front deck.

  • Since the top plate is a little bigger than the tray, make sure to offset it enough so the top plate doesn't rub your front dash when you do the final install.

  • It is a good idea double check the template before making any cuts. Don't trust that the template is 100% perfect. In order to get an approximate cut, you can hold the template up to the bottom of the pan and/or use a tape measure to double check.

  •  Using painter tape to trace the template and then removing the template before cutting will also give you a nice outline of where you need to cut.

Step 2

Prepping The deck

  • It is a good idea to cover the boat in painter plastic to keep clean up to a minimum

  • If you have a carpeted boat it is best to cut the carpet out first before cutting through the deck. I would also suggest cutting the carpet out at about  1/8in more than needed around the template as this will help keep the carpet from fraying when cutting.

  • If you don't have any access to the bottom of your deck either by a compartment or front dash I would recommend to cut a small hole in the deck/compartment just big enough to get you hand in . These will allow you check for a wires or other obstacle you will want to avoid when you go to cut the deck

Step 3

Cut The Deck

  • I use a jig saw to do all my cuts. Make sure to get the proper blade for your deck material, wood/fiberglass or aluminum

  • Photo of the left is showing an explain of a boat that has a large front comparted under where the tray is going to be installed. In this case you may have to cut in the compartment  for the tray to sit flush.

  • In some instances you have to cut throw a floor support. If so,  you may want to frame up a new support under the tray . I will usually use 2x4 to make a new support

Step  4

Tray Front Hole

  • The front hole can be used to run wires in and out of.

  • Power for your trolling motor is you want to hard wire it in.

  • Networking or rear mounted sonars wires.

  • If your not going to utilize the hole, use included black hole plug to block of the hole.

Step 5

Test fit the tray and pedal

If you do mess up and cut the hole too big call us we can probably make you a new custom tray

Step 6

  • Attach the PVC hose to the tray. Use a cable to hold it in place.

  • Typically you are going to want the drain towards the back of the boat.

  • Some customers, with foam filled boats, prefer putting the drain in the front. This can sometimes make it easier to route the PVC hose down to the bottom of the hull.

  • Use more cable ties to hold the drain hose on the hull of the boat

Step 7

Mounting Pedal to tray

  • If you purchased one of our trays that come fitted to a specific model, use the included hardware to attach the pedal to the pan. Depending on the model of pedal, you may have to drill out the 3 to 4 mounting holes on the pedal to fit the  #10-screws

  • If you purchased our universal tray then you will need to decide how you want to fix the pedal to the tray. Some good options are screwing it directly to the tray, double side 3M tape,  or Velcro. It will just depend on how often you think you will want to remove the pedal.

Step 8

Edge Guard and Cup Holder

  • Install the included edge guard around the half circle part of the top plate. This will keep the top plate from chafing any wires.

  • Install cup holder. The cup hold has double side tape at the bottom to help hold it in place. If you plan on fishing in rough waters it is a good idea to use a little super glue just to make sure it doesn't fly out.

Step 9

Install  Top Plate

  • It is recommend that you always pre drill the holes before using the included screws to fasten the top plate down. This will help it keep from rounding any screws heads off.
